Kela's son Bastian
Now that Bastian has turned one year old, I thought an update would be fitting!  Things are turning cold here in Indiana but Bastian still loves to be outside as much as possible.  I have a squirrel that seems to have become very fond of my yard, and Bastian just loves chasing him along the fencing and over the garage roof.  Every time I let him out the first thing he looks for is that squirrel!!  Of course, the flip side to that is it makes it a little harder to convince him he wants to come inside!!  Hopefully with the weather cooling down, some of his digging will stop.  If not, I may have to try to solution I read in a pet magazine, cayenne pepper powder put on the spot.  Don’t think he would like that!!! so I will give him a few more chances before I decide to be a “mean” mom J Gave him a nice bath recently and the pictures I got afterwards were hilarious.  His eyes were bugging out and he was rubbing against the couch like a crazy man.  Made for a quite entertaining few minutes. I can’t hardly believe that in December I will have had him for a whole year.  The time has just flown by.  I still feel so privileged to have been chosen as his new mom! Best wishes for all the new arrivals in Minnesota!!!  Hope you enjoy the attached pictures.

EXCITING NEWS:  Bastian will be offered for STUD SERVICE to qualified applicants.  Please visit Bastian's site to find out more about him, his mommy and the PRINCESS CITY KLEE KAI.  http://site.princesscitykleekai.com/Home.html

Hey Lori,

How have things been around your parts? We're doing well here! Jake is enrolled in doggy obedience classes and he just had his first one last week. I am pleased to report that he was a very well-behaved boy. Seven more weeks to go and he should be quite the gentleman. As always, though, he is cuddly and playful.

As you know, people ask us about him all the time. Just today, we drove to Lakeside, OH and we had at least a dozen people stop us to ask about his breed. Not to mention, the other day we were sitting in our car at a stoplight and the weirdest thing happened. Some people in a bar (at the intersection) saw Jake through the window and one guy ran out and asked what his breed was before the light turned green. People are fascinated by him. We said that we should create business cards and hand them out : ) That'd be great advertising for you!

Attached are a couple recent pictures of the little man. He's healthy and doing well! We hope all is well on your end and we're looking forward to seeing everyone at the beginning of August.

Take care!
Rachael (Ian and Jake)

JULY UPDATE:

Heidi is doing well.  We had her spayed and her belly hernia fixed a little bit before Easter, shortly after she turned 6 months old.  She did very well and recovered quickly.  Zach took her for her breed exam this morning and I've attached a scanned copy of the form for you in this email.  We'll send you the paper copy in the regular mail along with some "official" pictures.  The vet said that she does have an elevated liver enzyme, but that was common in puppies because they're growing so quickly.   Other news... Heidi graduated from puppy school and was given permission to advance to the next class.  We decided to take a little break and work on some of the things she learned in the first class, but we definitely enjoyed it and will do another one.  Heidi loves taking rides in the car, unlike when we first got her and she was afraid of going near the car.  Now when we tell her she's going on a "trip" she gets very excited.  Some of her favorite places to go include....   ...the Farmer's Market on Wednesday evenings.  She usually gets to meet a lot of other dogs and people there.  She generates a lot of interest, especially with the kids.   ...the Tasty Freeze, which is Grayslake's version of an outdoor Dairy Queen.  The first time we went she got a little doggie cone filled with ice cream and practically gulped it down, but it didn't exactly agree with her later when we got home.  So now we bring her own treats along.  Again, there's usually a lot of people and other dogs there that she's excited about.   ....the Forest Preserve with lots of trails for us to walk on and birds to see.   ....and of course the Pet Store where she took her puppy training class and almost all the employees know her.  She usually gets plenty of yummy treats from them on her visits here!   Anyway, I hope you're doing well!  I'll write again soon.  I apologize for taking so long to update you and will be more conscious of it in the future.  Along with the breed form, I've also attached some pictures of Heidi that we just thought were cute!

Meet Cassie...(puppy on left)

Itzy Bitzy Cassie found her forever home in Superior WI, close enough that she can come visit us whenever her mom and dad want to bring her to us!!  She is a sweet lover like her Mommy is, and loves to sleep and cuddle.  She is really laid back and very confident.  She has such a solid bone structure, and is very heavy. She is going to be a beauty when she grows up.

Makita, (on the right)  Sassy Girl Two:
Makita is a big boned girl.  She is taller then Meshik, but a little shorter.  She is a power house that loves to cuddle.  Her and Ogala have finally bonded, to help replace the closeness she had with Echo.

Meet Cassie.....fornerly known as ECHO

Itzy Bitzy Cassie is now living in Washington State, and is still being spoiled rotten by her people!

For those of you who keep track, Cassie was diagnosed early in life as having a slight heart murmur, and so because of that condition we had to place her in a PET QUALITY home....guess what?!!!  Cassie's murmur has disappeared!  She is 100% healthy!

We were fortunate enough to have Cassie and her sister come and stay a week at Kennelz and Bitz, so we were able to spoil her rotten again for a few days before we had to relinquish her back to her wonderful parents!

Cassie, mommy, daddy and sister living well and happy in Washington State!

Beautiful scenery to go run in wouldn't you say?!

Kaiser , Meishka's Solo Boy

This Little Dude ended up in Orange County California...lucky little man!

His update is as follows:

April 2009

Hey thought i'd do a touch base and let you know the progress of Kaiser.
He's been pretty steady at around 8~ pounds the past few weeks, we're pretty sure he's a toy and very happy about it. He just got his surgery  for neutering last week, and is now fully recovered.

January 2009

Hey, thought you might want to know the progress of our little baby boy, so here goes.

When he first arrived after a few days he was only 2.5 pounds, but since then he has grown a lot, and now he is nearing 4 pounds in weight.  We went out for about 30 mins the other day without him which was the first time we left him alone, and when we got back we finally reaised what you meant by he sounds almost like a real baby when he cries.

He's a really smart fellow, he's already trained to go to the bathroom on pads, and we're in the process of teaching him tricks.  His favorite place is under the couch where we watch TV.

Let's see, what else.. his presence has really brightened our household, and he gets attention wherever we take him!

Proud Parent is Raymond

Kela's adopted boy, Trapper (for Trapper creek in Alaska - not to mention he traps McKinley all the time!!!)  And Kela's boy McKinley (for mount mckinley in alaska)

This little guy ended up going to Ohio with his big brother

Sassy's little boy

Proud parents are Brooke and Matthew

APRIL 2009 UPDATE:
Trapper is 9 lbs and McKinley is almost 13 lbs and still growing!!!  They are so happy together and we are so glad they have each other to play with- which they do constantly!!!  We get lots of questions about them and people complement them all the time...beautiful dogs, are they husky pups, where did you get them, how did you hear about the breed, etc.  So much fun and of course they love the attention and the chance to show off...
